Rogers (Mary Josephine) is born in Roxbury.

Mary Josephine Rogers moved with her family moves to 20 Robinwood Avenue in 1890, attends the Boston public schools, graduates from Smith College and the Boston Normal School, and teaches in both Boston elementary and high schools. With Rev. James Walsh, she founds the Maryknoll sisters in 1921.* Rogers subsequently assumes the name Mother Mary Joseph, and is elected the Mother General of the Maryknoll Sisters in 1925. She dies on October 9, 1955.
